The Liberal Democrats in Wimbledon have moved into second place. The final result was:

Stephen Hammond (Con) - 23257

Shas Sheehan (Lib Dem) - 11849

Andrew Judge (Lab) - 10550

Green Party - 590

UKIP - 914

The Christian Party 235

Labour's share of the vote plummeted from 36% to 22%. The Liberal Democrat vote rose to 25%, making them the challengers to the Conservatives.

The success of the Liberal Democrats was due to the extent to which we managed to put across our agenda for a fairer Britain:

  • fairer taxes

  • fairer start for all children

  • fairer greener economy and

  • fairer cleaner politics

Shas Sheehan, Parliamentary Candidate for the Liberal Democrats said, " I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the almost 12,000 people in Wimbledon who have put their trust in the Liberal Democrats. I will continue to speak out on behalf of residents and champion the causes that are of concern to local people."
