Eco Park Petition DeliveredWritten by Shas Sheehan and published in Wimbledon Guardian on Wed 4th Feb 2009
A petition demanding a public meeting over the proposed development of an industrial recycling plant in Raynes Park was delivered to the company behind the plans on Monday 26 January 2009. Opposition is growing over the Workspace Glebe centre, which would be built on the Rainbow Park industrial estate next to Raynes Park station. More than 200 people are lobbying for a meeting to discuss the potential environmental damage that could be caused by the plant and increased traffic around the industrial estate. Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Wimbledon, Shas Sheehan, said: "More and more residents are looking to the council to stop this application." The proposals are yet to pass through Merton Council's planning process.
